BIO

Sasha Brätt is an award-winning stage director based out of Hartford, CT. For almost two decades he has staged works from New York to DC, Connecticut to Cape Cod, the Berkshires to Boston. Sasha deftly unites talented artists and inspiring texts to create affecting, contemporary theater pieces. With each production, he seeks to bring artists and audiences together to explore the unfolding of the present moment and reflect, together, on the human experience.

He is especially noted for expert casting choices and a collaborative rehearsal experience for the entire artistic team. The trust that is imperative in the rehearsal room begins to be developed from the first production meeting with the designers and the first time an actor enters an audition room. From these first meetings, he works with the company to create a space safe enough to explore the most

The Mystery Plays

Sasha believes in building the world of the play through true collaboration with each artist involved. This begins with the playwright. In addition, Sasha served as the Director of New Works for Playhouse on Park for eight years where he launched their “Playwrights on Park” New Play Reading Series. Sasha has directed over 20 staged readings for Playwrights on Park Reading Series, and more throughout the region, cultivating lasting relationships with established and emerging playwrights alike.

Sasha also commands almost 20 years of theater teaching experience and holds both a Master of Fine Arts in Directing and a Masters in Theater Education from The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. Currently, he is working toward a Doctorate in Education with a focus in Leadership Studies from Marshall University. Sasha is an associate member of SDC.
